Success at the first We Support CN28 Networking Event
Our CN28 team held the first We Support CN28 Networking Event at Nottingham College this month, bringing local organisations together to discuss the role they can play in reducing Nottingham’s carbon emissions.
The We Support CN28 scheme aims to engage local organisations in collective action for Carbon Neutral Nottingham 2028 and shine a light on the action currently being taken across the city. When an organisation makes a pledge to We Support CN28, it demonstrates their commitment to doing all they can to help reach the city’s carbon neutral target by working on their own carbon reduction actions.
Representatives from 15 different organisations who have already made a pledge to We Support CN28 were there on the day. Together the group reflected on the latest progress towards Carbon Neutral Nottingham 2028, discussed challenges and opportunities to reduce carbon emissions and the role that organisations can and should play.
The We Support CN28 event coincided with COP28 in Dubai, where global leaders met to discuss how to limit and prepare for future climate change, this event was a timely opportunity to reflect on the urgent action that is needed, and how Nottingham will play its part in tackling the global climate crisis
Some examples of CN28 pledges made by Nottingham city organisations include:
- Installing separate food waste disposal to ensure food scraps don’t go to landfill as this releases methane; a potent greenhouse gas
- Investing in more efficient LED lighting and water saving devices
- Completing a whole business carbon assessment to identify where CO2 savings can be made
- Encouraging staff to carpool and using electric vehicles to travel to meetings
